EffectiveJanuary 1, 2021, Horizon NJ Health will offer a new member benefit, doula services. A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support throughout the perinatal (the weeks right before birth) period. The services include the following:

• Prenatal visits
• Labor and delivery support
• Postpartum (after birth) visits

There will be two levels of doula services:

1. Standard care

• Up to eight visits in the prenatal or postpartum period, including the option of one initial prenatal visit
• Doula will be at the delivery

2. Enhanced care

• Available to members who are 19 years old or younger at the time of the first doula service visit
• Up to 12 visits in the prenatal or postpartum period, including the option of one initial prenatal visit
• Doula will be at the delivery
